Tired, Sweaty, & Musty

By Kayla and Nevaeh

Hi everyone, we’re very smelly right now.

We’re on the island of Koh Klang in the province of Krabi, Thailand, (still in the south, very sunny, my skin is peeling off).

To get to the island we had to get a long tail boat from Krabi. It was about a 5-10 minute boat ride, little did we know that we had a local celebrity providing the transportation; Pee Superman, shout out to him. On the ride over we saw a few water monitor lizards aka. Ms. Kipling from Jesse.

When we got to our homestay Kid Thung Cafe we were warmly greeted by the owners Muna and Matt. Muna welcomed us with limeade she made with butterfly pea flowers that grow in the village.

We learned that this island was first inhabited around 150 years ago, relatively newish. Their most recent project is to restore the island and implement programs that benefit the community and the island; after all, Koh Klang is known as The Regenerative Island.

Unlike at Spirit Mountain, there’s no stray dogs, like anywhere, (THANK GOD) due to the majority of the island residence being Muslim. Instead there’s cats everywhere, evil goats, and scary, sketchy cows. While continuing to learn about the environment, we’ve been expanding on practicing Thai. Sa-wat-dee Ka. The residents are all very entertained when we greet them in Thai, they especially, the children, like laughing in our faces(#Nevaeh’s). Seeing people who look like us speaking Thai is a little surprising, and maybe a little funny.

We’ve been enjoying our stay here, but in two days we’ll be heading out to our next destination: Koh Pra Thong.

PSA For Families! We are changing locations so we do not know what internet connection is going to look like so goodbye for now!
