Ummm so I don’t know where to start! I don’t know if I should start with how I have about 20 fabrics or what!!
Well let me give you the back story behind my fabric addiction. So I brought 1 fabric with me and this fabric is the fabric that I really like, my aunt wears this fabric in the summer and I love it because it can be used for so many things. So the 2nd day in Senegal we got wax print fabric from our instructor team. In my head I was thinking “ oh yess this is a good gift”. So in Diakhanor I planned out what I’m getting people and made a list, it was all organized. Until… the last day I believe I saw Suzy wear a fabric like mine, but in a different print that her host sister gave to her. When I saw her wearing that, I noted that I’m gonna be on the look out for one. And on the whole trip I kinda forgot about it until we hit Thies.
We went to this village of art one day and I saw them, and so out of happiness I bought 2 for 8000 cfa. I definitely got scammed/this was before I learned to use my bargain skills. I was happy. Then me and Harry went on a lil adventure for these and we found them, so I got 4 more for 8000. And thats when I realized, I’m gonna have to start bargaining with people. This guy just charges me 2000, while the other girl charged me 4000. And so as I’m looking at all 20 fabrics, I realized they are all different, and i love them so much. While I was getting these I forgot that these are suppose to be gifts for people, and so I need to stop getting these. Because the more I get the more I want to keep them for myself. Also I need to remember that I came here with a backpack and if I want to bring them all home with me, I need to stop.
Well theres my deep secret. I’ve been holding it in for a while. It’s embarrassing, I know.
