The first week of homestays in Tiquipaya, Bolivia is over. It has been great to be able to experience the slower pace of a small town in Bolivia and develop a routine that matches that pace. after the hectic few days of trekking, it has been refreshing to have a place to call home for at least two weeks.
In this first short week, I have heard new history and cultural facts of Bolivia that Peterson learned from his host family and shared with me, I have heard Justin’s adventures to try the most exotic fruits he can find, I have seen Kate and Sadhana have deep conversations as they weave in their traditional bolivian weaving class, I have seen Gwen and Mancala explore their curiosity and have fun learning a sustainable lifestyle in their permaculture class, I have heard Rory saying multiple times that he had the best food he has ever had at his homestay, I have heard Sam using more and more spanish words, I have seen Fee doing multiple acts of kindness to all the students, and I have seen Mac starting conversations in spanish with every person he can.
In such a short, slow week, I have had the privilege to witness such a big, fast growth. And I can’t help but wonder what it will be like when the program ends.
