STUDENTS ARE ON THEIR WAY!

By the Instructors

We have just dropped off the students at the airport for their respective destinations . As we all gave our last hugs and goodbyes it was clear that we all have left this program changed, for the better. We as instructors are deeply grateful to this group for their determination to create genuine and strong friendships with each other and in the communities we became a part of during our homestays. We had a fancy dinner last night and many students donned their “complets” and “bubus” many of which were given to them from different families they stayed with. Our last ceremony today was wonderfully put together by Christy, at checkin this morning Samba shared immense wisdom as always, and at the airport Espoir ripped pieces of the fabric we had used in our program house for each person to take with them. While the literal and figurative shared fabric of our experience will never be woven in this place, at this moment again, we carry it with us and it binds us together in our memories and continued relationships.

We wish the students and families safe and gentle returns home and all the best in whatever lies ahead. As they say in Pulaar, On Jaraama nani!
